A Call To Discipleship

Matthew 11:
28 Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Here, the Lord Jesus is calling us to come into a discipleship relationship with Him.
He wants us to disentangle our neck from every other yoke we've been bearing about on our neck.
Sin is one of those heavy yoke that thwarts a fruitful discipleship relationship with Jesus.

Until you get rid of sins through His mercy and grace, you cannot be yoked together with Him. Because no oxen can bear to different yokes at a time.

Verse 30 says " For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Jesus' yoke is an easy yoke that would allow you to enter into the narrow gate that leads to life eternal. The yoke of sin and Satan is too big and heavy for the narrow gate. That's why sinners can only enter through the broad gate that leads to eternal damnation.

Taking Christ yoke comes with the responsibility of learning from Him. And Learning about His lifestyle will produce, meekness, righteousness, humility, sincerity, and all other fruits of the spirit in us. Not only that, we'll have rest for our soul. Therefore, "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me" is synonymous to "follow me and I will make you fisher of men ( my disciple )".

Note that discipleship simply means, the process through which a disciple learns to walk with the master, in order to become like the master.
Would you become like Jesus? You have to take His yoke on you, and learn from Him.

Be Kind

Ephesians 4:32 (KJV)
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

As Christians, God want us to be kind to others.
He want us to forgive others when they wrong us.
This was the reason God sent Jesus Christ to this
world to be our model. To show us the way we
should live our life.
Christ was kind, meek, tender hearted and forgiving.
God want us to follow Jesus' footsteps.
He want us to emulate Jesus' kindness, meekness
and His entire lifestyle. Be kind to people. Give if
you have to, care if need arise.

Share what you have with others. Spend time to go
through the gospels to study Christ life.
Ask God to give you the grace to become like Jesus. God is pleased when we show kindness towards others.

Guard Your Heart

Proverbs 4:23
"Keep thy heart with all diligence; For out of it are the issues of life.":
The heart is a gateway where things/ thoughts flows in and flows out of a person. The kind
of thoughts we harbor in our heart can either defile or edify us. This is the more reason we need to guard our heart from every evil or negative intrusion. When the heart is defiled, the soul is defiled too. Someone once said, "The heart is the window of the soul"
Nothing gets to the soul except it pass through the heart. Let me say that he who guards the heart, keeps the soul. The soul cannot be defiled as long as the heart remains pure.
Keep your heart pure always, by the undefiled word of God.

The heart is a battle ground where much of the battles we face daily are fought. Once you're defeated in the heart, you are already defeated in life.
Ask God to give you the grace to keep your heart from all fiery darts and attacks of the devil.

God's Ways Are Higher Than Our Ways

 Isaiah 55:9 (ASV)
"For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."

So many times a lot of us feel that we can predict God's ways, thoughts, judgments, plans, dealings, feelings and actions. But, no we can't. No matter how hard we try to predict the way and manner which God respond to situations around, we'll always end up in failure. Cos God is too big for anyone to analyze, and predict. The Pharisees, and many Jews in the Bible where limited by their little knowledge. They thought that maybe Christ would be born in one of their synagogues, or in the palace. Their theology and ideology held them bound in their own little way of thinking, but didn't know that God works in mysterious ways. This was why they did not know their own time of visitation. (Matthew 2, Luke 19:44).
Our ways are not God's ways, and our thoughts are not He's.

I met a friend some years ago on Facebook who was arguing with some Muslim sect about the existence of God. The fellow was completely ignorant about God. Judging from the way he spake, he was an atheist. Although he denied that he wasn't an atheist.
He was telling them that there is no God, thus asking if there is a God, who created God? They kept arguing. I had to hold my peace because the fellow was completely ignorant, and he was so adamant to accept the truth.
His little mind obscured him from knowing the fact that God is self-existence. But I pray that God will open his eyes to know the truth, cos whether he believes or not, God was, and He is still God.

Sometimes when we feel sick and down-trodden, our little mind tells us that God doesn't care, and that He isn't there for us or maybe there isn't a God at all. That's a lie from the devil. God is always there for us. He cares so much for us.
Don't allow your little thoughts to limit God. God is far bigger and higher than your thoughts.
Always know that God cares, He hears, and He's right there for you.
